Koror Palau – Riding high on back-to-back wins and a revamped roster, the Spoilers started the game well enough and led 25-18 after the first quarter.

The Spoilers featured four new players against Surangel, Mark Pagayanan and George Bernardo bolstered the team’s frontcourt and Michael Bombita and Coco Gonzalez added depth to an already crowded backcourt.

Surangel and Sons tried to play physical to get back in game and perhaps frustrate some of the Spoilers’ players but it back fired.

Some timely baskets from Arnold Undicimo, Eric Manio and Deloy Pingot kept the game interesting. However, the Spoilers proved to be a tough customer and ended the first half leading 48-35 behind Gonzales and Bombita’s 1-2 punch.

The trend continued in the third period as the Spoilers’ lead ballooned to 20 points behind Gonzales’ play making ability, Bombita’s 3-point shooting, and team’s overall energetic play.

Still, Surangel weren’t done, behind Pingot’s timely baskets and Undicimo’s dribble penetrations they were able to cut the lead down to eight points late in the third quarter but the Spoilers made another run towards the end of the quarter and held 75-62 lead entering the fourth.

In the final period, the Spoilers got their largest lead at 24 using some crisp passing and fastbreak attack. They were able to use all their active players and won it handily 114-99 for their third straight win.

Newcomers, Bombita led the Spoilers with 37 points, Gonzales had 21, and Pagayanan added 15.

Not to be outdone, the rest of the Spoilers contributed on the offensive end, Aries Echanova finished with 11 points, RB Dorado and Boy Gopez chipped in six points apiece, Marvic and Mike Garcia had five points each and Karlo Castillo scored four points in limited minutes.

GAME NOTES: Coco Gonzales made the play of the game hitting a 3-point shot near midcourt as the halftime buzzer sounded. Aries Echanova completed a rare 4-point play during the fist half. He went a perfect 2-for-2 from beyond the arc. The Spoilers will face PNQ Rams next.
