Koror, Palau – Team Spoilers extended their winning streak to six games defeating the Ilocandia Bulls 107-96

The Spoilers were led by Aries Echanova with 27 points followed by Michael Bombita with 26 points and Coco Gonzales with 24.

Dennis Castro paced the Ilocandia Bulls with 26 points, while Joeger Supnet and Raul Osias added 24 and 17 points respectively.

The Spoilers started the game on a strong note leading 28-19 after the first quarter. The Bulls tried to keep the game close using their fast break attack cutting the Spoilers lead to six points with five minutes left in the second quarter.

However, the Spoilers tried to pull away using a total effort. A give and go by RB Dorado and Marvic Ngchar upped the lead to 55-39 and a strong push to end the first half gave them a comfortable lead 61-42.

But the Bulls weren’t done. Using their physical play coupled with foul troubles from the Spoilers team, the Bulls chipped away the lead slowly. Spoilers’ center Mark Pagayanan fouled out with two minutes left in the third period that fueled a Bulls comeback.

With Pagayanan out, the Bulls cut the lead to 80-72 after three quarters. Early in the final period, the Bulls kept the game close and are within 84-79 with a little over eight minutes in the ball game.

Nonetheless, the Spoilers showed that they can handle the pressure. Turning to their trapping defense, the Spoilers made an 11-0 run restoring their lead to 95-79.

The Bulls answered back with a 9-0 run of their own using their inside game that cut the lead to 95-88.

But in the end, the Spoilers sealed the game behind Gonzales’ play-making ability and Echanova and Bombita’s timely scoring.

GAME NOTES: With the win, the Spoilers improved their record to 6-3 sharing second place with the Bulls.

Marvic Ngchar and RB Dorado made the play of the game completing an unconventional four-point play.

Ngchar, made a layup and was fouled cutting to the basket, with a chance to make a 3-point play, he missed the bonus free throw paving the way for Dorado to grab an offensive rebound and add another two points  towards the end of the first half.

Coco Gonzales battled leg cramps throughout the game, but did a great job of playing court general for team Spoilers.
